For a few years now we have been styling both bands before their Portland shows.This year we got to do them both on the same day. The B52′s and The Go-Go’s performed on the same night for The Oregon Zoo Concert series and oh was it a good time! For us this means styling the ladies before their shows and then rushing to the Zoo to see it all come to life on stage!
Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Go’s popped into the salon for a blowout before hand. She likes a very simple blowout that has just a touch of bend at the ends. She is so beautiful in person and doesn’t really need much to make her look polished. Last year was her first visit to the salon and she is always extremely friendly and thank full for good blowdry! After the show we went backstage to say hi to the rest of the band. Jane Wiedlin was an absolute riot! She was sitting in a big lounge chair relaxing and so she just had us all pile on to the chair and take photos!!!!!
The B52′s no longer wear beehives but their hair is still larger than life and fabulous!!!!! Lot’s of hair pieces, teasing and hairspray!! This is their 4th year seeing us and every year Cindy Wilson changes her look. Sometimes it’s long and straight other times it’s a big bouffant. Kate Pierson loves some big red hair!!!! We add wefts or other pieces to make “Super sized bombshell hair “! We tie the look all together by using a large barrel iron and a little brushing to blend the textures together and of course spray the heck out of it! These ladies are absolute entertainers they dance and shake all over the stage for an hour and a half and their hair never droops!
It’s always cool to meet the people who’s songs shape your musical memories. I can’t hear “Vacation” or “Planet Claire” without dancing like a teenager!
